Should sociopathic people be incarcerated or executed?

Source article link above.

This article made me think, because I used to live in the area where this incident occurred. I traveled that road many times. My parents traveled that road many times. I cannot imagine how I would feel towards this kid if it had been my dad who had been shot and killed while on his way to work in the early morning hours.

Some comments on this article make me simply shake my head. Then again, that's nothing new because Mlive.com commentors are generally uneducated, unemployed, and moronic. But I digress. When I was a teen, none of my close friends drank, did drugs, went joyriding, or shot someone just for the fun of it (BB guns and paintball guns excluded). I knew people who tried speed and I was horrified. I knew people who had sex at young ages and again, I was horrified. Plain and simple, I did not know nor did I associate with people who were cold-blooded killers. I know someone who failed to stop for a school bus and killed someone. She is filled with regret to this day. The key is: regret.

Do teens do stupid things? Sure. They should be punished and the punishment should fit the crime. Lying, stealing, vandalism, etc should be punished with community service and restitution. Put a time value and/or monetary value on the damage caused and make the teen work both time and money off. That will do more to rehabilitate them than merely tossing them in jail for awhile. Punish repeat offenders more seriously to send a message.

It is my personal opinion that if someone is caught red-handed murdering someone or it can be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that it was pre-meditated and definitely executed by them, that person should pay with his or her life. Accidents happen and while people must face the consequences of their actions, accidents are not pre-meditated.

If someone is so callous as to admit that they planned to shoot someone with the intent purpose of robbing them, and then to repeatedly say "I was just immature" it makes me think that they truly do not have the ability to tell right from wrong and they should not be allowed in society. Since we can't just dump evil murderers on some wild, deserted island to fend for themselves and since Alcatraz and Guantanamo have been closed down, we must do all we can to protect innocent people from these sociopaths.
